Yummy Crochet

So having written my last post about aiming to get projects finished what have I gone and done... started another big project on top of everything else I've already got started!  Ah well!

I thought it was about time I made something for my house as I find it doesn't really reflect my personality or creativity enough so I've started working on a throw.  Having trawled through my pinterest account and hunderds of picutres on google I decided to go for a pattern I've already used before.  I just love these hexagonal crocheted flower motifs and the pattern can be found here. Rather than using the lightweight yarn suggested I'm making it really chucky so I can snuggle down under it in front of the wood burner on cold nights, also it's always a bonus that it grows quickly.  

Defeating the Unfinishable

So having completed months of stock making and hours of carting bags and boxes all over the county to sit behind my humble little stall the Christmas craft fair rush is over and the new year has arrived.  As much as I have enjoyed this time I'm pretty glad to be back to a bit of normality and have some time to sit and create just for the sake of being creative rather than to try and make a few pennies.

So my aim for the moment is to try and make some progress on a quilt I started more than a year ago with fabric I brought from the Knitting and Stitching show 2011.  

I visited the Knitting and Stitching show 2012 and was fascinated to see the display The Unfinishable which brings together hundreds of items people have donated that they've found either in their own homes or in the homes of loved ones, often after they've passed away, that have been started but never finished. My mum has a patchwork quilt made of hexagons that she started before I was born that will never be finished as do most of the quilting class that she attends however I am determined that my quilt will not join that list no matter how many hours I've spent on it or the fact that I have no idea what I'm going to do with it once it is finshed, somehow crazy coloured spots don't really fit with the rest of my decor!  So we shall see how much progress I'll make this year, good job I brought plenty of the fabric because I'm pretty sure they'll have stopped making it by th time I've finshed!
